Am so very grateful to the intrepid (and kind) Colin Hung, John Lynn, Shahid Shah, team at the Healthcare Scene, and Medigy for recognizing the Health Populi blog as Blog of the Year (by an individual) at the HITMC awards ceremony on 11th May 2022. I've midwifed this site since 2007, writing over 2,600 posts in my own independent voice firmly focused on consumers and citizens, health care, and technology. This is a particularly appreciated award: my thanks.
Jane discusses a new study from UnitedHealth Group on the health status of older adults -- identifying exacerbating health status including early deaths, the doubling of drug deaths, rising obesity, suicides, and depression. Long-COVID symptoms are often overlooked by the health system, and loneliness and isolation spiked in the pandemic era. While there are some promising digital health innovations to help scale support and care to older people, we must stay design-ful, person-centered, and empathy-powered.
Having spent most of the first-half of 2022 living in and working from Brussels, Jane will return to the U.S. in late July to meet up with clients (and friends and family!_ until early autumn, then returning to the EU capital! You can continue to stay in touch via all the usual methods: email (via [email protected]), via Twitter @Healthythinker, on my LinkedIn channel and of course, through the Health Populi blog,. You know the THINK-Health mantra: Health/care is everywhere!
