Jane discusses a new study from UnitedHealth Group on the health status of older adults — identifying exacerbating health status including early deaths, the doubling of drug deaths, rising obesity, suicides, and depression. Long-COVID symptoms are often overlooked by the health system, and loneliness and isolation spiked in the pandemic era. While there are some promising digital health innovations to help scale support and care to older people, we must stay design-ful, person-centered, and empathy-powered.
